Abstract Office is the Los Angeles-based type foundry and design practice of Benjamin Woodlock. The office produces digital typefaces for use across media and collaborates on design from custom typefaces to branding, motion, and editorial projects.

Ben is a creative director, designer, and educator whose work explores typographic expression across a wide range of media – from motion graphics in film and television to visual identities for cultural and corporate institutions.

An Emmy Award-winner, he has designed title sequences and documentary graphics for platforms such as HBO, Apple TV+, Disney, Hulu, and Netflix, and created commercial work for brands like TikTok, Meta, Adobe, Samsung, and Walmart. His design and writing have been featured in publications like Slanted, Idea, and Artforum, and his work is part of the permanent collection at LACMA.

Ben’s custom type design includes a logo and font family created for Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as well as McBean, the institutional typeface for California Institute of the Arts, where he teaches type and motion.
